Musings of life after graduation
So today I had a meeting with my adviser Dr. Hicks to discuss my classes for the fall semester. It has really hit me that this is going to be my last semester of actual classes before student teaching and graduation. As much as I am ready to graduate and move on from this stage in my life and get the heck out of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania I'm actually really scared. When I think about it I have been a student for the past 16 or 17 years and this time next year I will be getting thrust into the real world. As an education major I'm obviously going to be applying for teaching positions to get a big girl job, as this is what I want to do. I want to be that teacher that is a book of knowledge and knows how to best get through to the students. I want to be that teacher I had in high school that can hand a kid a book and change their life. It is becoming more and more apparent to me that I very well may not find a teaching job right off the bat. My summer life-guarding job isn't going to support me, so I think I am going to look into applying for the Disney college program for post grads. I have been told by numerous people who have gone through the program that it is an enriching experience and that it looks great on a resume for future employers. With my minor in theatre and background in musical theatre society I could even audition to be a show/parade performer or a face character. It's my dream to be a princess, and since I was little I've always had a love for anything Disney and I love sharing it with people. I feel like I need to start thinking about my options now because I have a feeling this next year is going to go faster than I think.
