20 shot story board / video
I thought this weeks lesson was an interesting take on content and technology usage. Usually the technology comes after the content, but in this activity we knew we were using technology before the content was even given to us. We were divided into groups and given a specific story. We read the story and interpreted it in our individual way, and wrote/drew our own story board. I thought it was interesting that when we got together and compared our story boards we for the most part had made the same choices but some of us focused more on certain details than others. When we settled on a comprehensive story board to shoot from and grabbed a camera and headed out on campus. Though this 20 shot film seemed simple enough it really wasn't. We had to work with what we had when it came to the technology malfunctioning, props and properly conveying the setting. We all had to work together as a team to complete the film. One person could totally not just sit on the sidelines and watch everyone was involved in some way. I think activity would work well in a high school setting because you are introducing kids to film production for probably their first time, but you are getting them to work together as a unit especially when say problems may arise. You are getting them to interpret the content and translate it onto film so their other classmates can see what they saw.

I completely agree about the comparing storyboards aspect. When we looked at ours, we did have a lot of similar scenes; however, we could see what grabbed certain people's attention. I thought that was the most interesting aspect of the project. I liked sharing my idea with my group members and being that open. I felt like that part was kind of a vulnerable experience. We had to show each other what parts of the story moved us. It seemed kind of weird at first, but in the end I liked how close and cohesive it made my group. I'm glad you had a good experience as well!
