Video production in the classroom

This weeks readings were about using videos and video production in the classroom and most specifically the English classroom. I found these readings to be interesting as well as informational. When I was in middle school, our history class we did a project to go along with the lesson on Greek mythology. We were divided into groups and we had lines from the text and we had to come up with costumes and props for our scene. Then after we did rehearsal sessions in class, out teacher filmed each groups scene and then after they were all done she edited them all onto a VCR. As a 7th grader it was cool to see yourself  'on screen' as it was the first time a teacher had used this method. As a high school teacher of English I think using video can be a staple in the classroom. For example, I could have the students produce book trailers for the novels in class or do act out scenes from books or plays on video. Of course as a teacher we want to be fluent in the jargon and language of video production, etc so we can provide the best instruction. By using video production or different forms, we could be able to reach kids who are not those text on paper kids especially in the subject of literature. We can reach those kids with multiple intelligence and give everyone a hands on environment.
