This week's reading focused on both blogs and wiki's, and while I knew the basics of blogging since I have had this blog since 2011, I learned some new things about wiki's.
The ideas of wiki's I kind of like. I like the way we use it in this class as it connects us all in a different way from d2L. I like how we're able to edit say project lists, and add links to our blogs, etc. This is actually the very first class that I've ever used a wiki page and now that I think about it, in this class was the first time I've even heard of a personal wiki page. I have of course heard of Wikipedia and the Wiki-leaks scandal, but never as a source to use in the classroom. The chapter has a lot of ideas for classroom use in connecting students as well as ways to connect parents to the classroom as well so they are able to track their students progress. It may take me some time for me to get use to and work out the kinks if I want to incorporate it into my class, so I can use it effectively but in the long run it may actually be different and beneficial.
