In our further research assignment, I read an article that was about texting language and how kids are supposedly learning more from text message abbreviations because once they receive the abbreviations in the message then their brain sorts out the message and they then understand the actual English language instead. I'm a bit skeptical. I sometimes find myself accidentally typing text language in emails or papers, but the difference is I know when to turn off the social language or text jargon and use regular English. I don't know if kids today can separate the two. Text language is convenient but I don't think there is any valid learning coming out of it.
